Rachel Timmons

Rachel Timmons (timmons@fastmail.fm) grew up eating the insides of boiled crawfish heads in New Orleans, Louisiana. She eventually left the Deep South for the Pacific Northwest, where she received a B.A. in English at Reed College in Portland, OR. In 2003, after traveling widely in China and SE Asia, Rachel moved to Beijing, where her food writing ambitions are coming to fruition. Over the past year, Rachel has been (among other things) a freelance food and entertainment columnist, restaurant reviewer, and travel writer for the China publications Metrozine and City Weekend. On the Web, her writing currently appears in the alternative culture webzine Some Other Magazine (www.someothermagazine.com).
