Jennie Schacht

Jennie Schacht (jsATschachtandassociates.com) is a culinary writer and consultant specializing in bringing the talents and voices of chefs and pastry chefs—as well as her own culinary creativity—to the written page. She is co-author with Joey Altman of Without Reservations: How to Make Bold, Creative, Flavorful Food at Home (Wiley 2008), and with Mary Cech of The Wine Lover’s Dessert Cookbook: Recipes and Pairings for the Perfect Glass of Wine (Chronicle Books 2005). She is currently working on a book of her own, has contributed to several other books, and has written food and wine articles appearing in national and international publications, including Vinography.com, which recently won the 2008 American Wine Blog Awards for Best Writing and Best Overall Wine Blog.

In addition to her culinary writing, Jennie is founder and principal of Schacht & Associates based in Oakland, California, offering consultation to the food and health care industries, with a client list that includes the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture, Chez Panisse Foundation, NapaStyle, University of California, and others. To date, Jennie has authored or overseen funding proposals resulting in nearly $100 million in awards to non-profit organizations.

Jennie holds a certificate in Food and Beverage Management from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration and a Masters of Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. She recently served as President of the San Francisco Professional Food Society.
